DD goes Enduro with Lauren Gregg
When we learned about Lauren’s thrilling Enduro mountain bike adventure coming up for summer 2016 - during which she’d be touring America in her campervan - we simply had to ask: What about a hammock to chill out in after a hard day’s racing?
Considered one of the best (and fastest) female Enduro riders in the USA, 25-year-old Lauren Gregg’s mountain biking success story began in 2009 when she picked up her Dad’s wheels and began racing cross country. It didn’t take long for her to become a pro athlete, but her love for gnarly descents took her away from XC and into the world of Enduro. She soon made her mark, winning the California Enduro Series in 2014.
She's only just getting started this season and has already snapped up a 2nd-place in her first race - but she's also making the most of the scenery along the way. She says "the freedom of living in a tiny home on wheels will allow me to hit some amazing trails and explore lots of beautiful regions and wilderness."
Lauren will be taking plenty of gear with her for life on the road this summer and we’re excited to say this includes a DD SuperLight Hammock along with the accompanying tarp and mosquito net. Ideal companions for #VanLife! She told us it’s “SO easy to set up... The perfect gear to take on this adventure, for sleeping under the stars or relaxing with a cup of coffee,” and added: “During the day and when the weather is nice outside, I would much prefer to be in a hammock than on my mattress inside of the van!”
We’re delighted to be supporting Lauren on her adventure this summer, and we’ll be keeping you updated with her progress and camping experiences along the way. Meanwhile be sure to check out her Race Diaries on the Enduro Mountain Bike magazine site, where she’ll be keeping a journal of her Enduro tour, as well as explaining the nitty gritty!
Good luck Lauren: We can’t wait to hear more from your journey with your new Fuji Auric and your Transit van as the season goes on.
