DD Charity Update - June 2026
As we share our first charity update of 2026, our commitment to supporting charities and not-for-profit social enterprises remains as strong as ever. We’re especially passionate about helping smaller organisations and community groups that may not have access to consistent funding, but are creating valuable opportunities for people facing barriers to accessing the outdoors.
Over the years, we’ve been proud to support a range of inspiring charities and community groups, including Anxious Minds and Elemental Adventures CIC, to name just a few. Working alongside these organisations has been hugely rewarding for everyone at DD, and throughout 2026 we hope to expand our charitable support even further.
If you’re part of, or know of a charity, community group, or organisation that could benefit from outdoor equipment support, we’d love to hear from you. Please get in touch using the contact form on this page
Recovery Through the Outdoors
Earlier this year, ARC (The Addiction Recovery Centre) in Kirkintilloch, East Dunbartonshire, put their donated DD Hammocks and Tarps to use during an overnight camp in Aberfoyle, Scotland. Since 2002, ARC has been dedicated to helping individuals find hope, support, and a fresh start on their recovery journey, recognising that recovery is about far more than overcoming addiction, it’s about rebuilding confidence, reconnecting with others, and creating healthier, more positive ways of living.
Spending time outdoors plays a huge role in that journey. Nature has a unique ability to help people slow down, clear their minds, reduce stress, and reconnect with both themselves and the world around them. Whether it’s sharing stories around a campfire, waking up to birdsong in the woods, or simply stepping away from everyday pressures, outdoor experiences can have a powerful impact on mental health, wellbeing, and personal growth.
ARC works closely with local services, healthcare professionals, and community support networks to provide a compassionate and joined-up approach to recovery. Alongside emotional support, the charity also helps individuals develop practical life skills, from building coping strategies and improving decision-making to rebuilding relationships and establishing healthier routines.
Most importantly, ARC helps people reconnect with their communities, with nature, and with a renewed sense of purpose for the future.
Following the success of the Aberfoyle trip, ARC is already looking ahead to its next adventure in the Cairngorms National Park. With incredible scenery and endless opportunities for hiking, wild camping, and photography, the team is excited to get back outdoors and put the donated kit to good use once again.
