Founder:

DD Hammocks was founded by Nick Vansittart who has travelled extensively around the world - his travels include one overland journey from Lombok in Indonesia back to Edinburgh in Scotland via S.E Asia, China, Mongolia, Russia and then through Europe (a total distance of over 26,000km and taking some 8 months). Having done alot of hiking/ camping in Scotland in the past and always with a tent he found that a hammock, at a fraction of the weight and pack size of a tent to be an ideal solution to lightweight travelling/ hiking and camping as well as being more comfy than a tent. Having tried and tested many different hammocks all with certain advantages, we wanted to find one that combined basic camping features such as wind and insect protection, lightweight, compact and comfy as well as being affordable, this led to us producing our DD Camping Hammock which has all of these features.

June 2006:
Having received great response to our original camping hammock we have recently added some new products and will continue to bring you new, innovative and affordable products in the future.

March 2007:
We introduced improved/ modified versions of all our products for the start of 2007 and we plan to add a couple of other new products in time for summer. We welcome your feedback and suggestions.

January 2008:
Our New 2008 version of our Travel Hammock is now here! It has a number of new and improved features. We have also just launched our new website and welcome your feedback. If there are any other products you would like to see here, please let us know.
